Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), a United States-based automaker, has introduced FORD2GO, the first manufacturer-backed, nationwide car-sharing programme to include dealerships, in Europe.

The programme has been developed through a three-way partnership between Ford of Germany, the German Ford dealers association FHD GmbH, and DB Rent GmbH. It will initially be introduced in Germany and is likely to be extended to other European nations.

The automaker has decided to introduce FORD2GO after carrying out a survey, which indicated that the drivers are increasingly seeking viable car sharing programmes, mainly in urban areas.
