Nissan launches Evalia in India, aims to double sales

Nissan Motor Company (NASDAQ: NSANY) (TYO: 7201), a Japan-based automaker, is aiming to double its sales in India in 2012 with the launch of the Evalia yesterday.

The vehicle is to be priced from INR849,000 to INR999,000.

Takayuki Ishida, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India, stated that the company aims to sell up to 66,000 units in the country – double its 2011 sales of 33,000 – while maintaining export volumes at nearly 100,000 units.

The automaker plans to introduce a further 10 models in the country by 2016, including the Datsun brand.
