During the first quarter of 2013, Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM)(LSE: TYT)(TYO: 7203), and its subsidiary Lexus have achieved a milestone of selling their five millionth hybrid vehicle.
Toyota commenced sales of hybrid vehicles in 1997.
Presently, the automaker and its subsidiary sell 20 different hybrid models in 80 countries. Toyota Motor Corporation stated that its five million hybrid vehicles have saved a combined three billion gallons of petrol and decreased CO2 emissions by 34 million tons.
