Skoda launches European version of Rapid at 2012 Paris Motor Show

Skoda, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG (Xetra: VW), has launched the European version of its Rapid at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The vehicle is inspired by the MissionL Concept vehicle revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, fitting in between the current Octavia and Fabia ranges. It measures 4,483 mm long, 1,706 mm wide and 1,461 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,602 mm.

The model is to be available with a range of engines, including a 1.6 litre TDI with 88bhp and 230 Nm of torque, or 103bhp and 250 Nm of torque, the new 1.2 MPI with 74bhp and 112 Nm of torque, a 1.2 TSI turbocharged engine with 84bhp and 160 Nm of torque or 103bhp and 175 Nm, and a 1.4 TSI offering 121bhp And 200 Nm.

The model will boast boot space of 550-litres – larger than that of the Octavia.

It is expected to retail from £12,900 in the UK, up to £17,850 for a top-of-the-range 1.6 TDI Elegance.
